I bet you didn't know Ol' Dirty's ''Brooklyn Zoo'' was a diss record, well it was. Back in the mid 90's there was a Brooklyn crew that went by the name of TF (Together Forever) also known as Brooklyn Zoo. Word on the streets is that they had a run in with Ol' Dirty Bastard in Midtown Manhattan with guns drawn which lead to Ol' Dirty's debut single "Brooklyn Zoo''. In the song the Ol' Dirty chants "Shame on you when you stepped up to the Ol' Dirty Bastard BROOKLYN ZOO!!!!". Well there was a response record entitled "Masters of the Zooniverse" that never really saw the light of day because the Feds locked up most of the Brooklyn Zoo leadership before they ever had any chance to make any noise.
How do I know all of this? because Coney Island was my second home and I was schooled by alot of the OG's out there. One of these OG's was called Half-A-Brain because he had a twin. He makes an appearance in this video. Half-A-Brain always walked around with a pair of gloves on because he said "you always gotta be ready for when shit pops off". Anyways, below I'm posting Ol' Dirty's video and the "Masters of the Zooniverse" video. Enjoy. This is the reason why I don't respect alot of these other blogs out there, because they could never tell you a story like this.

"Nuclear Winter represents many things. It represents dark times in our lives, it represents the state of NY hip hop & how I feel about it, & it represents my blueprint on how I think the music should be done going forward into the future. This is my manifesto to all the people that doubted me & the kryptonite to all selfishness. It's a journey from darkness into light, & from bondage & the huge amounts of weight on our shoulders to breaking free and regaining our freedom. Nuclear Winter we're coming to take shine....." - Willie Maze
